    When purchasing a house, you'll typically need to make a down payment, which is a percentage of the property's cost. This amount varies based on factors like loan type and financial assistance programs. Contrary to the myth of a 20% requirement, down payments can range from as low as 3% to 5%. For instance, on a $100,000 home with a 5% down payment requirement, you'd pay $5,000 upfront.




    Your down payment amount hinges on factors such as income, loan type, and assistance programs . A larger down payment translates to lower monthly mortgage payments, while a smaller one results in higher monthly payments. 




    There are a number of Down Payment Assistance Programs where eligible buyers can receive assistance in the form of grants or forgivable loans, providing financial support for home purchases without the need for immediate repayment.
